We are excited to present four new UDLib/SEARCH trial databases: Capstone Interactive, PebbleGo Next, PebbleGo Read More, and World Book Early Learning! Access to all four database collections can be found on the UDLib/SEARCH Trial Databases Page.
Capstone Interactive is a collection of more than 3,000 ebooks. The books include fiction and nonfiction. They cover all subjects and all grade levels. The heaviest concentration of titles is for elementary school. Middle school coverage is moderate, and there is a small segment of content for reluctant high school readers. Books can be read offline using an iTunes app. (Trial Period: 2/17/20 – 6/15/20)
PebbleGo Next provides 3rd – 5th grade students with content designed for their specific needs. PebbleGo Next includes an array of topics: Biographies, Science, Social Studies, State Studies, and American Indian History. These databases engage upper elementary students with subject matter created for and correlated to state & national curriculum standards. (Trial Period: 2/17/20 – 6/15/20)
PebbleGo Read More provides 750 new ebooks at the K – 2nd grade level. These ebooks are found within the “Read More” tab in every article in PebbleGo Animals and PebbleGo Science. (Trial Period: 2/17/20 – 6/15/20)

Through gamification, users can practice problem solving and critical thinking while absorbing information about a topic through active learning. World Book Early Learning contains stories in English and Spanish, nursery rhymes, and songs. In addition, there are 400 activities such as coloring, paint by number, connecting-the-dots, and more. These activities are accessible online and are also printable. (Trial Period: 2/17/20 – 3/31/20)
Access to both databases can be found on the UDLib/SEARCH Trial Databases Page. The collections present eBooks that provide targeted resources supporting mental health and wellness. Collectively the two products contain ebooks for students in grades K-12. Cameron’s Collection is a middle and high school resource, and Cameron’s Camp supports elementary school students. These products are excellent resources for students, teacher, and school counselors.
Topics covered include the following: handling responsibility, teamwork, social media, anxiety, depression, homelessness, stress, mental illness, life decisions, problem solving, and more.
Many of the UDLib/SEARCH databases have a new look and a new name. Please refer to the database table for the previous names of the databases that were modified along with the new name of each product. Not all of the UDLib/SEARCH databases are included on the table; only those that were modified are listed.
The basic functionality of the databases remains the same, but there are some changes in the way that these products present their content. There are also instances in which the content of smaller databases has been combined into a larger database. For example, SIRS Knowledge Source, SIRS Government Reporter, and SIRS Renaissance have all been combined and are now SIRS Issues Researcher. If you would like to have a UDLib/SEARCH Coordinator come to your school to discuss with your educators the updates in these valuable resources, please contact us.
Recognizing the dire need for solutions to support students’ mental health and wellness, Gale has collaborated with the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation to curate Cameron’s Collection. The collection presents nearly 40 eBooks that provide targeted resources and guidance for students, teachers, and counselors – letting students know that they are never, ever alone. The titles in Cameron’s Collection span a wide range of topics, including ADD, ADHD, alcohol, anorexia, anxiety, bulimia, caregiving, cutting, depression, divorce, drugs, eating disorders, homelessness, OCD, self-injury, stress, and suicide.

Please explore these databases, and contact us with your feedback! Your comments are useful as we consider databases that should be included in the UDLib/SEARCH program. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
